Privacy policy

Maple Arcade Quest Ltd. ("we") operates the family entertainment centre at 1845 32 Avenue NE, Unit 12, Calgary, AB T2E 7C8, and this website. We collect as little personal information as we can get away with and this page explains what, why and for how long. It is written to comply with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect and why
- Enquiry and booking details from the contact form, phone or email: name, email address, phone number, preferred date, group size and whatever you write in the message. Used to reply, hold a room and run the booking. The form also records the time, your IP address and browser type, which we use only to block spam.
- Payment details at the desk are handled by our card terminal provider; we never see or store full card numbers. Receipts show the last four digits only.
- Play card registration is optional. If you give a name and phone number so a lost card's balance can be transferred, that is all we keep, tied to the card number.
- Parent contact numbers for drop-off kids aged 12 and up, kept at the desk on paper for the day of the visit and shredded that night.
- Security cameras cover the entrance, the arcade hall, the desk and the inside of each quest room (game masters watch the rooms live to run the game). Signage at the door says so. Footage is not shared except with police on a lawful request or with our insurer for an incident.
- Photos taken at the end of a quest are offered to your group and deleted from our device within 7 days unless you ask us to keep or display one, in which case we ask for written consent from an adult in the group.
What we do not do
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third-party servers. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it in writing, which you can withdraw any time by replying to any message.
Retention
- Contact-form and email enquiries: 24 months from the last message, then deleted.
- Booking and invoice records: 7 years, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Camera footage: overwritten after 30 days unless an incident is logged.
- Drop-off contact sheets: same day. Quest photos: 7 days.
- Play card registrations: until the card has been inactive for 12 months.
Where information lives
Form submissions are stored on servers operated by our website host, which may be outside Alberta and outside Canada; booking records are kept in a Canadian-hosted spreadsheet and on paper at the desk. Access is limited to the three owners and the desk manager, all under confidentiality agreements.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we are not legally required to keep. Write to privacy@maplearcadequest.com or to the Privacy Officer at the address above. We respond within 45 days as PIPA requires, usually much sooner. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 through this website. Booking forms should be completed by a parent, guardian, teacher or group leader.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you before the change takes effect. Otherwise the date at the top is the version in force.
