Retro arcade hall

Forty-odd machines and not a single ticket

A retro arcade hall in northeast Calgary where credits start games and that is all they do. Load a play card, tap, play. Unlimited Wednesdays for $25.

What is on the floor

The hall is about the size of a school gym, split into zones so the noisy stuff stays on one side. We rotate a few machines every season and repair the rest in-house; a cabinet with an out-of-order sign on it is usually back within the week.

  • Pinball row: eight tables along the west wall, a mix of 80s and 90s classics and two modern ones, all set to free-play-per-credit with the tilt sensors tuned kindly.
  • Air hockey: four full-size tables, pucks that actually float, and a Saturday-night queue.
  • Skee-ball: six lanes with the old wooden balls and a scoreboard that just counts. No tickets, nothing spits out the front.
  • Racing cabinets: six linked sit-down racers, so a family of four can race each other, plus two motorcycle-style cabinets.
  • Rhythm games: two dance platforms and three drum-and-button cabinets, in the far corner with their own speakers.
  • Classic 90s fighters: a bank of eight upright cabinets with proper sticks and buttons. Two-player on every one.
  • Odds and ends: a basketball hoop pair, two light-gun cabinets, a whack-a-mole, and a row of four early-80s uprights for the grandparents.

Play cards

Load once, tap all day

Starter

$20 = 100 credits

Around two hours for one kid, or an hour for two sharing. Most machines take one credit; racers and the big rhythm cabinets take two.

Big session

$50 = 320 credits

The card for a teen group or a regular. Best credits-per-dollar of the three.

Prices are before GST; the desk adds 5%, so the $20 card rings up at $21.00. Cards are free, reloadable, and credits stay on them for 12 months from the last top-up. Lose the card and we can transfer the balance if you registered it at the desk with a name and phone number.

Wednesdays

Unlimited play, 16:00 to 21:00, $25

Every Wednesday the hall switches to a wristband. Pay $25 plus GST at the desk, get a band, and every machine on the floor is free to start for the rest of the evening, no card needed. It began as a way to fill a slow night and has turned into the best value we offer, especially for the pinball crowd who like a table to themselves.

Wristbands are per person and not transferable. Under-12s on a Wednesday need a paying adult in the building; the adult does not need a band if they are not playing. On statutory-holiday weeks the unlimited night moves to whichever weekday we are open.

High-score board

The pinball row and the skee-ball lanes keep a monthly high-score board by the desk, initials only, wiped on the first of each month. The reward is your initials on the board. That is it, and people fight harder for it than you would think.

Arcade house rules

  • Walk-in, no booking. The hall follows the building's hours: Tue–Thu 14:00–21:00, Fri 14:00–23:00, Sat 10:00–23:00, Sun 10:00–20:00.
  • Kids under 10 need an adult in the building; under 6, an adult in the hall with them.
  • Sunday 10:00–11:00 is quiet hour: music off, attract-mode screens dimmed, no rhythm games. Great for sensory-sensitive players.
  • Food and drinks stay in the snack corner or the party rooms, not on the machines.
  • Air hockey and racers are 15 minutes per turn when there is a queue; a staff member will let you know.
  • A machine ate your credit? Tell the desk and we will refund it to your card and fix the machine.
  • Two-player cabinets are meant to be shared; if someone is waiting, the next game is theirs.
  • Lockers by the entrance are free. Use them.
